Counting can be a monotonous and frustrating task when it comes to weight loss. It's work. You have to weigh, measure, read/track nutritional values, and write down everything, including that nibble of nuts, the splash brown sugar maple creamer in your coffee, or stick of gum. It all adds up to more calories, more points, more weight.

I know that tracking my food is important, more so than my workouts.  I also know that I'm not good at tracking my food via my phone or even on paper. The weekends are my hardest days to stay on track eating well.

Man...You have to really love running to run in the rain. Or in my case, just coming off a cold medicine high.

I thought...woo hoo, a way to finally get my butt back  on track. I know how/what to eat, I just wasn't doing it as evident by  my lackluster food tracking for the nutritionist sessions. 
  
 So I did it last week. I ate fairly clean for 6 days with, we wont count  the cheat meals,...Ok 2 cheat meals. In taking the advice from the nutritionist, I branched out and actually showed up to a hiking event last night. I'm good for saying I will do something and find every excuse under the sun to not do it. But not doing things continues to feed the beast aptly named: "there's nothing to do here".

I made it out to the park by 7:10am yesterday morning to register (sign the waiver) for the Oldest Run in Sacramento. I can't lie...it was difficult to get out of bed this morning. We trekked to a galaxy far far away aka Woodland, CA Friday night to the Gibson House to do one of my fav things - watch a freebie movie outside. Star Wars was the feature film. LOVE Star Wars. And yes, the longest part is trying to get out of Texas. I swear that last 247 miles from Ft. Stockton to El Paso had me thinking someone moved El Paso!

The cool thing about Ft. Stockton is seeing the metal cowboys welcoming you to town. I had this argument with my on/off workout partner. I said I would strive to be a fitness coach if I was in better shape. Her argument is that many ppl look fit but aren't. True enough. Today was easy. I even bumped up my run speed on the treadmill from 4.4 to 4.5. Whoa!!! Watch out for the speedster!

I know that the treadmill is no real challenge for running outside, but man oh man, it's  just too damn hot. Kim and Merry - big ups to ya'll for running outdoors. Of course, it took me a few minutes to get my heart rate down to a normal range (those burpees in this TKB round are challenging). 

But in straight-up LTD style, I didn't pay attention to the rules (who reads the instruction packet anyway?) So the question arose the other day: how many calories do you burn doing Zumba?  Good question seeing how the instructors and infomericals tout that you can burn 800-1000 calories doing Zumba.  Um yeah.  What they neglect to tell you is that you can burn that if you weigh in at least 250 lbs.

But that's ok (I hope). 

Last week was an ok week.

1. I did get in my workouts - yeah baby.
2. My books came in the mail (more about these shortly). Let the reading begin.
3. My weight didn't fluctuate too much - but weighed in at 161.something.

Or don't make any at all out of fear of the unknown.  How is it that I can be so self-assured for most things in my life, but can't ever decide on a pet, a relationship, a move (relocation or job)? Argh!  Well, this past weekend, I made a decision without even really thinking it through. I just said yes.

I got a puppy.

We were both so pumped, waiting for the go-ahead to give notice and pack our bags (well at least his for the moment) only to be told that the position is on-hold. On-hold? WTH?  My immediate reaction was sorrow. I thought all my cheerleading skills were for naught. That holding that belief in my mind was pointless.

I'm going to milk this today for all it's worth.  I've crossed into the 150s. 159.8 to be exact!

The rest is unremarkable. No workouts this week because I've needed to water the lawn and check on a friend who hurt her back. Oh and Cinco de Mayo = sangria and seafood enchiladas without the cream sauce.

Yes, I'm late posting this since it was supposed to be posted on Friday.  The good thing is I weighed in at 160.2 Friday morning. Woo Hoo, right? Wrong!!! 

I weighed in a 162.2 this morning and that sucks.
